The rockstar status of our president in waiting continues to blast into new and disturbing areas of our pop culture. Barack Hussein Obama is being unleashed in the cartoon universe.
In the latest edition of Marvel's Spiderman comic book series, Barack Obama shows up out of nowhere, with no past or history inside the series at all, similar to how he appeared on the scene in American politics in 2004.
Saying to himself that he's sure Obama will need his help, Spidey and the president in waiting share a fist bump. Presumably in offering his help, Spidey was referring to efforts to make Obama look centrist.
Spiderman, created by Stan Lee and now owned by Marvel Comics, is a perennial power player in the pre-teen entertainment market. Being the father of small boys myself, I'm not so thrilled about seeing Spidey fist-bump Everyone's Favorite Marxist.
While The Evil Conservative applauds patriotism by anyone, even a comic book superhero, one also has to wonder why Marvel would have chosen to make Spidey so patriotic... to the least patriotic President in American history.
