As an adopted New Yorker, I like it when something happens here that we can be proud of. I especially like it when a citizen stands up for themselves or someone else and doesn't wait around for the police to show up. I have always considered a pro-active citizenry (and well-armed), to be a far greater deterrent to criminal activity than the cops, anyway.
At any rate, attaboy to Ed Skyler, Deputy Mayor of NYC.
I also should note that apparently street crime in midtown Manhattan is back... this was unheard of in Rudy Giuliani's New York.
